So it was that Helena found herself on the doorstep of her "Aunt" Brenda's manor, dressed normally, rather than in costume. Technically, you might say she was here on business, but she would prefer to speak in the manor and not the cave.

She had a lot on her mind, big choices to make, and she wasn't really sure she was making the right one. Part of her said yes, part of her said no, and part of her really didn't know what to thing. Her teammates supported her, Dick... almost did, but what she really needed right now was her father's support, and since that was not an option, she needed to seek out an alternate. "Uncle" Bruce was always an option, of course, but Aunt Brenda also potentially seemed like the better one to ask.

So she knocks.

"Yeah, I pretty much told him off about it. Hurts, though. Even with you and Uncle Bruce and some of the rest in the multiverse, Dick's some of the only family I have left. His approval means a lot to me."

"I'm sure Dawn would be glad to gently kick his rear for you." The offering of her stand in's services instead of her own comes automatically now. The winged woman is nearly an extension of herself.

Helena smiles as she returns with the tea and such. "I don't think that will be necessary."

"If you're sure." Brenda smirks and props herself up a little more.

Helena nods as she sets the tray and foods down within easy reach of her "aunt," before sitting down herself.

"He'll get over it. He just spends so little time in Gotham himself these days, I think he's just channeling some of his anger at himself."

"Dick Grayson seems to be a very emotional person," notes Brenda, helping herself to the treats.

"I think they are in general," she agrees. "Our Dick never had the falling out with Dad that most of them seem to, so he stayed Robin, never really went out and forged his own identity the way the ones that became Nightwing did."

There's another angry bellow from upstairs and Brenda facepalms. "I think it's time to remove mine from video games."

Helena casts a glance upward. "Dick's a little old for those, thank goodness."

A slight, rueful smirk. "Modern men often play them well past their forties."

"He just doesn't seem the type. Still too much carny in that man."

"More the action type, hmm?"

"For the most part," she says. "But yeah. I just... after Dick said he didn't really approve of the whole thing, I just had to talk to somebody else in the "family" about it."

"It makes sense to me." She sips tea, then dips a cookie into it.

"Me too," she agrees. "Got a pretty nice group together, really. Five veterans, so to speak, and seven newbies to the game."

"Sounds like a good dynamic in theory."

"I'd like to think so. Sylvester, Speedy, and Sandy have years of experience behind them, and Kara and I have been at this for a couple now. And the others are all the kids of other heroes, so they're not total neophytes by any means. Heck, Lyta could probably teach me a thing or two about fighting."

"So long as being the children of heroes doesn't make them cocky," she warns, a bit of the Bat showing.

"I wouldn't think so. Most of them are too level-headed for that," she says.

"Let's see... there's Hector, who's Hawkman's son. Worked up his own flying gear and some other Nth metal tricks. Jessie's the daughter of Liberty Belle and Johnny Quick, and inherited her powers from both of them. Ernie's Plastic Man's son and has the same powers his father does, too. David and Hal are using modified versions of their dads', Starman and Airwave, technology. Lyta's got the same powers as Diana, albeit at about half her levels. And Albert's actually the Atom's godson, but he's got atomic strength."

She nods. "Going to take some training to really get them to the point where we'll be really comfortable with them taking on, say, Solomon Grundy or the Wizard, but they'll get there."

"Drill drill drill till everyone's sick of it and can do it in their sleep."

"Good grief," Helena says. "Seems a bit drastic."

"It works." She looks up from her tea.

"Most people don't have your level of discipline, Aunt Brenda."

"It works."

"I suppose so."
