Escape!
Katalyn ran down the street, panting as she hurried, skidding to a halt in a dead end alleyway she froze, then looked back at the pair of thugs coming after her.
Looking around she quickly grabbed an old pipe, holding it up.
"Leave ma alone!" the tiny girl said feircely.
"Oh ho, look at that," one of the thugs snickered, nudging his buddy. "Little girl has a weapon."
"Better be scared," his partner snickered. Then he shook his head, then advancing on her. "Seriously, sweetie, just put the pipe down. We'll make it a lot better for ya if you jsut come without a fuss."
"Like @#%$!" she screeched, lashing out quickly.
The man screamed, toppling over.
"My knee!" he bellowed.
"You little @#%#^," the other man screeched, reaching for her and grabbing the pipe as it swung again.
Katalyn's eyes got huge, and she started to squirm and kick at him, desperately re-reaching for her powers, which were still not working when she needed them to.

"Stupid @#%#$ knocked me out," she complained.

Yes, talking about the Bat as though they weren't one and the same person.

She looked down, eyes filling with tears even as her hands went to her head, trying to get the woozy, sick feeling out of her head, heart, and body. Frustration welled up inside her again, and she slumped, at a loss as to what to say or do, and fighting to do nothing and hide her inner turmoil, as she was so used to doing when she was older.
Re: Near morning
She couldn't hear anything past the turmoil in her heart and mind save the repeated thump against the wall.
Re: Near morning
She got up, going to the window, then looked out, tears streaming down her cheeks as she thought of everything that had happened to her, even just recently as a reverted child. It seemed she never really knew how to handle anything life threw at her. She was no hero, though she'd been given powers, she was dead or repellent to emotions, her only attractions were to silent, vanishing figures who'd give a penny less if she died, and now, even in the home of her greatest and most honored hero, figure, and heroine, she could do nothing but become angry and upset, push her away, an retreat further into herself.

"Can't do what, dear?" she said softly, stroking her hair.

"Brenda," she said clearly, looking into her eyes. "You're paniking. Take a deep breathe and calm yourself. Now, tell me what's really wrong."

-I can't deal with this now. I can't.-

"Brenda, you know how," she said. "All you have to do is use that mind of yours. Feel for the child, try to understand what she's going through, even if you can't imagine everything she's seen. Use those detective skills of yours to make connections in more than crime scene investigations."
