Visiting the Manor

Jim Gordon sighed as he pulled up to the Wayne mansion, still reeling over discovering the true identity of the Batwoman.

He stopped the car, then picked up the fresh bundle of carnations he'd picked up on the way back from the late shift, going up to the door and lifting his hand to knock, only to suddenly hear an angry scream and then the sounds of a heated argument coming from inside.

Suddenly an older woman Gordon knew as the poor-treating doctor Leslie opened the door suddenly, looking hassled and inviting him inside. He frowned and entered, then started and bolted for the crashing sound coming from a side room that was the opposite direction from the parlor where he'd been invited.

"I'm used to being alone," said Brenda frankly, veiling her expression so as to keep the little girls watching her from getting the impression that they were making her lose her mind.

He smiled.

"I'd find it difficult myself," he said, then looking at the girls. "But you do try to help her out, don't you?"

Both sets of small eyes looked back at him somberly, but neither child decided to break her silence though Bree nodded. But the look that she gave to Brenda held a challenge for her elder twin to refute her claim.

He blinked, then smiled and looked to Brenda. "If you ever need help or a sitter for some time off, I'm a call away."

"Thank you." She wondered what that annoying social worker who kept calling about Clara would say to that.

He smiled and nodded, then looked around.

"You have a nice home," he said finally, not sure what to say and blushing slightly.
