A park in Gotham

All was calm, all was quiet.

Then a black-edged portal sprang into existence over the duck pond and two people flew through. The black-haired girl surfaced immediately and swam to shore, laughing heartily.

"Stronghold, yer such a fragbrain!" she hollered after reaching the shore and bounding to her feet. "Ya know what ducks do in there?"

"She said you know who I am." The emotionless voice managed to convey deep threat.

And Will certainly picked up on that threat, even though most of the time he would be oblivious to such things.

"Well, not necesarily..." he gulped. "I mean, I do know who your male counterpart is in...the comic books. I'm assuming he's probably alive in some universe somewhere...but...I'm babbling and you're a very busy woman so I guess I should get to the point. Uh, is your last name Wayne?"

Will blinked, not recognizing where the thought came from, and was thinking it was pretty random.

"B...Brenda?"

There was a growl from Batwoman, then she put an arm around his chest and suddenly launched into the air, taking him up into the chilly Gotham night sky.

In an instant, Will was yelling loudly, flying through the air, this time not of his own accord. His mind reeled as he tried to catch up with what was happening, and for the fact he wasn't terrified out of his mind, he'd think it was really cool.

"Shut. Up." The words carried a weight of menace that cut through his panic.

"Ahhha...shutting up." Will ceased his yells.

They continued over the city, weaving between rooftops, till they came to a certain alley. Then Batwoman shifted to an upright position and dropped straight down.

Will looked around as they dropped down, not exactly sure what was going on here. He was slightly worried for a moment, wondering if she was going to off him in a quiet place with no one around. Then he remembered that he had read that 'Bats don't kill', and felt a little better. Unless this Batwoman didn't follow those rules cause they were in some alternate place...despite being nigh invulnerable, a bead of sweat trickled down his forehead.

She landed with slightly bent knees, then seemed to take a moment before she straightened and set him on his feet. "Who are you?"

[identity profile] flying-strong.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
He shrugged. "I'm uh...Will Stronghold." He didn't see any need to conceal his name, maybe if there was a version of his family in this world she'd suddenly get all scared and respectful, like most of the adults did back home when he mentioned his name. He usually didn't use it for this purpose though, he didn't like the way people treated him different.

All she did was run a scan on his name on her suit computor as she continued the interrogation, though she noted the boy's confidence in it. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm stuck here. Didn't you see her, see whatserface, Mornbein? She totally dumped me here. I want to go back home, but I have no idea how to." He was a little mad at being thrown into some strange world like this and it showed through his words as they spilled out faster and faster. "I think I come from a totally different world, 'cause we don't have Gotham City. You guys are in comic books where I live."
