Alfred was sitting in the parlor drinking the tea he had just made. He was waiting. She must be out. He chuckled to himself. Of course, she was. It was night. She ruled the night.

He sighed and took a drink of his tea.

He took the tea gratefully, letting the warmth glow through his fingers. After all, he had gotten dunked into that nasty icy water earlier by Mornbein...though his clothes were pretty much dry already, as was his hair.

"I'm from...well...I guess you'd say it's a different world from here," Will looked around the grand place a moment. "We don't have Gotham or Metropolis, we don't have Superman or Batman, but we have...uh...Jetstream and the Commander, they're the top superheroes on my world."

He looked at Alfred warily, not sure if he ought to reveal what he was itching to say. But hey, if the old man could keep Batman's--or woman's--secret, then he could certainly keep his, right?

"They're my mom and dad."

"Yes, well, I didn't get them until uh...not to long ago," a small smile came across his face as he sipped the tea. Still very hot. "I can fly and I'm strong, one from my mom and one from my dad. I feel really lucky though, because sometimes if a person has two superhero parents it...cancels it out or something and you don't get any powers."

"Cool." He walked over and bounced a bit to get comfortable on the soft couch, then remembered that he was holding tea and held it a bit more carefully.

"Thanks. Uh...is she always that, um, scary?" He was dreading her return, even if she would help him get back home.

"Sometimes?" he smirked under his tea. He shrugged. "I don't think I've ever been scared by anyone like that before. Except Warren, actually. He was once my arch enemy, but now he's my best friend."

Will shrugs. "I don't think I want to get to know her. She'll probably rip my head off." He thinks. "I mean, if she could."

"Oh ho...oh, nope. Well they're trying harder. But they still suck at it," Will rolled his eyes over his tea. "Believe me, the heroes used to waaail on the sidekicks at my school."

That really made Will stop and think. It was the perfect answer to it all. How indeed, could they have heroes, if they did not act heroic to even their own allies?

"Whoa. That was deep. You are exactly like in the comics, man." Will was seriously considering hugging the man.

Will grinned back, but he was careful not to accidentally make a remark about how old Alfred was, as he was wont to do at his young age.

"Well, I hope so. I wish we had someone like you back home, or at school. Woulda knocked some sense into people."
