Looking for Prey

Thick leather boots gripped the edge of the rooftop as a young man peered over a rough end of the city. The east end, in particular. With the awful blackout that occurred not an hour ago, he was pretty busy. There had been no sign of Batwoman, and he was very glad of that. He was not...afraid, per se, just very wary when working the same time she was. He assumed she was very protective of her territory, which included the City, and he wasn't going to simply stand aside and let her be the only one cashing in on the fun.

Hunter grinned, there was a very poorly organized bank robbery that he had just foiled and the bumbling idiots had no idea who they were up against. He was new at this vigilante stuff, but after all he had been around criminals most of his life, unfortunately, and was too trained to be a fighter. Martial arts was something of a hobby in school, but he had persued it seriously once he had gotten older. He knew he would need it, with the kind of people hanging around at home. His theories were put to practice, of course, once he decided to don the costume.

Ah, looters. Will they never learn? He double-checked his crossbow and threw out one of his nifty new grappling guns, swinging to the chaos below.

When she heard the gun, Spoiler thanked her lucky stars that one her costume was padded with bullet-proof armor. And two, that it missed her completely.

She looked at the group of mean-looking men, "You do not seem to understand, this whole city is our territory," (yes she was making them think her and the man were working together), "and we say that they can not just take what they want."

Spoiler looked over to Hunter, she could toss a smoke grenade and use her heat vision in her mask to fight them... but he did not seem as equiped. So instead, she flung out her bat-a-rang again, and it made a direct hit of the gun in the lead man's hand. Making him drop it.

The thing about gangs is once you start hurting their leader, they start to falter. Spoiler could see it in their eyes, the fear and uncertainity of what to do next.

"Go on... scat!" She threw a flash grenade just in front of the group, scaring off a few of the more timid men.

"So... The Hunter, is it?" Spoiler said, from where she stood. Looking around to make sure that there were no more stragglers to deal with, "I'm Spoiler."

Spoiler shook the offered hand, "you could say that."

She listened to the sounds of the city, frowning at how the blackout has a several pronged effect, "so where to next, Hunter?"

"Sounds good." Spoiler grinned, "we just should avoid the Batwoman."

"Lets go," she followed him. Glad that Hunter wanted to avoid Batwoman as much as she did so.

Spoiler had been able to follow him with her own grappling hook, and was by his side as he headed three blocks to the north.

"I am thinking perhaps a tear-gas grenade, or flash-grenades, or smoke-grenades. They work well again rioters."

Spoiler watched him fire the crossbow, hoping his aim was true enough not to hit anyone innocent. Meanwhile, she tosses down tear-gas grenades, hoping to dilute the crowd with them.

Spoiler quirked an eyebrow as Hunter laughed, and watched the second crossbow fly into the tear-gas smoke. Down below, the rioters were now confused, and more than a little scared. "Shouldn't take too much more to scare them off," she comments.

Spoiler waited a couple more minutes, while the tear gas disappainted, then nodded. "Lets go!"

She fired off the grapple hook, and headed down towards the rioting crowd.

[identity profile] exiles-jubes.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
Spoiler in the meanwhile was doing some crowd control, directing some non-rioters out of the way, and just in general taking out those rioters who tried to get to close to her or Hunter.

The alarm had sort of come out of nowhere, but Spoiler was thinking the same thing that Hunter was. Something big had to be in there. She tossed a flash grenade to break up the crowd of rioters even more, so they were small enough for the police to handle, before dropping by his side.

"Right beside you," note how she said beside instead of behind. As if they were a team, instead of one leading the other.

Spoiler pulled out a bat-a-rang in one hand, sneaking closer to the dark building.

"Would be a safe assumption," Spoiler replied. "If they are after something big, they would be armed and ready to take it."

She noticed how tense Hunter was, "just listen to your gut, it won't let you down."
