So he was alone in the city. Alone, except for his own thoughts. And even those were pretty lonely, too.
Roy kept replaying the last conversation he had with Jeff and Eddie back home.
"Are you sure you want to stay there? I mean last time you could have been killed!"
"I know what I'm doing, Eddy. I have to go back."
"But really," the Blue Raja protested. "You can't go back alone. It was dangerous enough as the last time--"
"Well, apparently too dangerous for the both of you. Because danger is my middle name, or at least figuratively, it is. I wouldn't go alone if you two came, but since you're not coming, I guess I'm by myself. So...you coming?"
Eddy and Jeff looked down, a little embarrassed. "You know, there are plenty of other heroes there, Roy. Even Batman. Don't you think they have enough help there?"
"Didn't you hear? They don't. They need all the help they can get. And at least we have Amazing here, so...we're good. I guess that's my answer. That's it. I'm going by myself. From now on, this man's an island...of one man."
******
So now Roy was off, taking in the sights of the city, getting his bearings so he could go on what was that...'patrol'? Yeah, so he could do that. After his talk with Mornbein, the real reason why he wanted to stay here was to prove himself again. Not that he'd admit that to anybody. But Gotham had kicked his tail way too hard and he wasn't going to let her have the last laugh, no, he'd be the one laughing last. He was going to prove himself to this place once and for all. For all, at once.

Joker chuckled as he hunched over his latest creation, an invention that he knew would give the Batman serious grief, something that would terrorize Gotham on its own while Joker was free to rob anywhere he liked.
Suddenly the door to the warehouse he'd currently made his bas burst open, but instead of somebody being there Joker wheeled to find sevarl largee, bright green vines storming his new hideout, hailing a storm of other vines.
"Well this isn't a gas,"he said crossly, reaching for his Joker putty and charging the vines, spraying them. The greenary shrank and melted as it came into contact with the Putty, and Joker went out to the street, stunned when he saw the Vines had nearly taken over the entire city block, covering and breaking into every building through doors, windows, and occasionally through the very walls.
Joker blinked, then scowled.
"IVY!" he bellowed, spraying some of the vines that got closer. The vines shrank, then sprang forward, grabbing him and tieing him up. "IVY!"
A moment later a tall redhead wearing all green came in, and the ines around her seemed to stop as if by whispered command.
"Joker," she said, eyes getting bright. "I see the rumors are true. You're back."
Joker merely scowled, and Ivy laughed, coming forward and patting his cheek.
"Poor Joker, all tied up by my latest project," she said.
"And you interupted mine. Now be a dear and let me go," he glared. "Joke's over."
"Of course," Ivy grinned, and the vines fell away. Joker dusted himself off, then looked around.
"Impressive. Sure hope dear Batty doesn't come and clip your roots," he said, watching.
"He'd find these a bit too tough for all that," Ivy smiled.
"But what is the point?" he scowled, looking aruond.
"This is the point," she said, pointing at some lumps which seemed to be flowing down the stalks of the vines. Suddenly a large, pink flower bloomed near her,a lump flowing up the stalk and coming out as the flowerbloomed, to reveal a rather large diamond ring.
"My babies are sensitive to the minerals in diamonds and precious gems. They swallow and bring everything they find to ther base: to me," Ivy purred, putting the ring on.
"Facinating," he stared, then chuckled. "Oh, this gives me an idea."

Thomas Rybec was not a happy camper. Three hours ago he had found himself in a strange cit. He had no idea how to explain how he got here but he was and nothing was going to change that fact.
"Blast my eyes," he mutters in a bit of anger not liking this at all. He didn't recognize this city at all. But he did know this city was dangerous so he kept his duffel bag close to his body.
That was until he noticed he was in trouble. Looked like some of the City's riff-raff had decided that he would be an easy target. Well this was going to be so wonderful. Not only could he be confused about why he was here or more importantly how he got here but looked like he was about to get down and dirty with some of this city's underbelly.
Nice welcome wagon.
