The Scout - Checking out Gotham

Every time they were going some where new, they always drew straws. Everytime. Yet every time Eva lost. Why? Because she choose the shorter straw because he twin couldn't be trusted. 
She sighed looking around, wondering what she should do. Seeing a poster of superman she grinned. She walked over pulling out a permanent Black marker and scribbling on it. THe usual, horns, beard, evil mustache.......

"That's not very nice," said a voice from the shadows. "You do know that vandalism is an offense?"

"I didn't know that no" she said, not stopping until her 'masterpiece' was complete. "But it's not vandalism. Its creativity unleashed"

"It's destroying somevone else's property. You go to jail for it."

She turned to look at the person speaking to her. She really didn't want to be in trouble just now, so it meant some quick back pedalling. "How about I apologise and promise to never improve a loser again by giving a make-over to a poster?"

"Superman vas no loser," came the stern rejoinder, though she couldn't see anything in the shadows that the voice came from.

"Sure" she shrugged "Although Don't get the underwear thing but sure"

"He died protecting those veaker than himself." A shadow separated itself from the others and revealed itself to be a tall winged woman with skin the blue of the sky near dawn slashed diagonally across the left eye by a lightening streak of dawn rose. She wore what seemed at first to be a cloak with high shoulders, but at second glance proved to be a pair of massive draconian or bat-like wings. Long hair in a braid trailed over one shoulder as black eyes that seemed to have no bottom gazed at the girl with gentle sternness. Paw-like feet stood confidently on the glass-scattered street as long pointed ears perked toward her.

"Then maybe he should have been stronger"

"It vas his life or that of another." The huge wings rustled as the long ears went back in what seemed like a frown. "Vhat are you doing in Gotham?"

"Looking around, what are you doing in Gotham?" she asked crossing her arms.

The ears went back further as her wings swept back to show the Bat symbol on the chest of her garment. "Protecting her."

She looked at the symbol for a long moment "Interesting........"

The ears perked again at the girl's odd responses. "Vhere do you come from?"

"Where do you come from?" she asked. Before flashing her best smile "If your like a bat hero shouldn't you just like..... Know?"

The dark one's hand darted forward faster than the human eye could see, imprisoning the girl's wrist in fingers that looked like slender knotted twigs but felt stronger than steel.

She wouldn't be able to break free.

Eva considered several possibilites including dodging the grip, or similar. Instead she decided on the 'normal girl' option. She started struggling....... in a feeble girly girl manner, and squeeling "Eeee LET ME GO!"

"Stop that," said the winged woman sternly, her head cocked as she matched the girl's features and the feel of her wrist to something in her memory. "You're Kryptonian."

"No I'm not" she snapped "Let GO"

"Not until you tell me who you are and where you come from."

She narrowed her eyes "I'm a member of a girl group who's gone solo, I hail from Ireland" she grinned.

"The truth," said the dark one gently.

"You know your TOTALLY assaulting me" she said with a scowl. "Now LET GO" she growled

"The last known Kryptonian vas murdered a little under two years ago. He died vithout children. Now you come to Gotham vearing his face." Those black eyes narrowed slightly. "I'll ask again, who are you?"

"I'm vearing nobodies face" she snapped "but my own!" she said. "NOW LET GO OR I'LL SCREAM!"

"Go ahead," she said calmly, knowing that no one would respond.
